GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT
Jeffrey M. Fried
The past year can be marked by the achievement of several milestones. On behalf of everyone in the Beebe Medical Center
family, I am pleased to share these achievements with you as we continue to plan for and provide the best possible medical care for the communities we serve.
Achieving these milestones is a direct result of the ongoing efforts of 1,500 employees, 180 doctors, over 250 volunteers, and a committed Board of Directors on a daily basis. Perhaps our most visible accomplishment is the September opening of the $15 million, 40,000 square-foot Outpatient Care Center at the Beebe
Health Campus on Route 24. This facility is part of Vision 2005—the single largest capital campaign Beebe Medical Center has ever undertaken.
The new facility was necessary to meet the growing needs of our
year-round population and seasonal visitors. In addition, advancements in medicine and technology are making convenient outpatient procedures an attractive option for many patients. With increasing local competition in healthcare services, we look
forward to working with our medical staff to provide facilities,
services, and personalized care that will set the benchmark for healthcare in our area.
Our Outpatient Care Center project, and the many others discussed in this report, reinforce Beebe Medical Center¹s role as a community-owned, not-for-profit hospital. Since we have no shareholders or investors to satisfy, the money we generate from operations is invested back into the community to better serve
your healthcare needs.
In addition to our Vision 2005 projects, Beebe Medical Center
re-invested $7.4 million on routine capital equipment and improvements, as detailed in this report, to maintain Beebe’s position on the fore-front of medical technology.
With our Vision 2005 capital campaign, Beebe Medical Center aims to raise $12 million to continue our mission. We have raised over half of this goal already, thanks to the generosity of our Beebe family, community members, local businesses, and several important foundations. A record number of visits this year—more than 30,000—makes expansion of the Lewes Emergency Department the primary focus for the second phase of our campaign.
In the upcoming year, we will ask for your support of Vision 2005 to assist us in ensuring that our community has continued access to the finest medical care. We will strive to provide the community
with a full range of quality healthcare services as cost-effectively as possible, and we will continue to value and earn your trust and
support.
