CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE BEEBE MEDICAL FOUNDATION WEBSITE

Beebe Medical Foundation was established in 1989 with the sole mission to raise philanthropic support for Beebe Medical Center.

Correspondence can be addressed to members of the
Board of Directors in care of Beebe Medical Center,
424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.

Through the efforts of the Foundation more than $15 million already has been raised to support new construction and renovation of medical facilities, new and ongoing medical programs, and to establish an endowment fund to ensure
Beebe will always be available for this community.

As a community-owned, not-for-profit hospital, Beebe Medical Center is dependent on the generous support of individuals, corporations, businesses, and foundations to fully meet the healthcare needs of our community.

These funds are raised through:

ANNUAL GIVING

The Foundation Annual Giving Program is an important source
of funds for Beebe Medical Center. Restricted and unrestricted funds, contributed through the annual fund, support ongoing operations and make possible various community programs.

For your convenience, we accept all credit cards. If you would like to make a gift, please call 302-644-2900.

PLANNED GIVING

Individuals who have arranged for a gift to Beebe Medical Center through their wills; participation in a life income arrangement
to benefit Beebe such as a charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, or the creation of a Lead Trust; or naming Beebe Medical Center as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or a life insurance policy help to secure the future of the Medical Center.

For more information on how to make a planned gift, please call 302-644-2900.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS: VISION 2005

In 2002, the Board of Directors of Beebe Medical Center approved a $32 million expansion and renovation plan, the
largest in the history of the Medical Center. This project included the construction of an Outpatient Care Center on the new Beebe Health Campus located on Route 24, significant improvements
to the Savannah Road campus infrastructure, and, finally, the expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department on Savannah Road. Vision 2005, the largest capital campaign in
the Foundation’s history, with a goal of $12 million, will help fund these plans.

We are pleased to report that on September 22, 2003, the Outpatient Care Center officially opened and began serving patients. The Central Utility Building on the Lewes Campus has been brought online and will provide greater capacity for new medical modalities.

Nearly $7 million in gifts and pledges has already been raised
for this capital campaign. The Longwood Foundation has provided not only an initial grant of $1 million but has also provided a generous $1 million challenge grant to encourage the early completion of the Vision 2005 Campaign.

We now look forward to the second and most important focus of the Vision 2005 Capital Campaign, the expansion and renovation of Beebe Medical Center’s Emergency Department. The emergency care provided to the community has been of paramount importance to the mission of Beebe Medical Center.

The availability of emergency care has become a major concern for eastern Sussex County. Over the last 10 years, this part of the county has experienced a tremendous population growth. Since 1990, Beebe’s primary service area (58% of Sussex County) has grown at a rate of 51%, and projections are that by 2010 it will grow by another 41%.

The demographics of the population we are serving have also changed. This region is experiencing one of the fastest growth rates in 65 years and older age group, which now comprises
22% of the population in our service area. Traditionally this segment of the population uses healthcare services at five times
the rate of a younger population, thus significantly increasing demands on the healthcare delivery system.

Emergency Department volumes have increased from 21,000 annual visits in 1997 to more than 30,000 visits this past year, and it is projected that the volumes will continue to increase to more than 35,000 visits by 2005. These significant increases in volume reflect the demand for patient care from both year-round residents and summer visitors. Often a person’s first encounter with a healthcare delivery system is through the Emergency Department. Over 70% of patients admitted to Beebe in fiscal year 2002 came through our Emergency Department.

This phase of the expansion plan will increase the Emergency Department’s bed capacity from 18 to 36 beds and will also provide for the introduction of a sophisticated emergency tracking system, cardiac/trauma treatment rooms, and centralized nursing stations to meet both current and future needs.
