Deloris Frederick was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 1999. “I was upset and worried, just like everyone else,” she recalls. She took a couple of classes on managing stress and healthy living through Beebe Medical Center’s Integrative Health Department with her husband, Ronald. “I changed my attitude,” she says. “I look to the future.”

Mrs. Frederick also attributes her more positive outlook to her husband. “We work together. He picks me up, and I pick him up.”

Mrs. Frederick often works on creative projects for those in the family. She has made dolls, afghans, and a wedding dress for one of her daughters. She and her husband focus on their three children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
