Millsboro attorney Tom Kearney does much of his work on the telephone. So, after he was diagnosed with neck cancer in March of 2004, it became all but impossible to work.

Tom’s treatment included four surgeries in two years, one a radical neck dissectomy. His taste buds and his salivary glands became useless.

“I couldn’t talk on the phone,” he recalls. Tom set up a temporary office in the home with strong support from his wife, Maggie, his employees, and his partners. “I was impressed with the care I received at Beebe,” he says. “Dr. Peri, Dr Costleigh, the staff, they were wonderful.”

Tom is back in the office, and once again enjoys the things he always has enjoyed—fishing, water-skiing, and just being on the water with Maggie and his family and friends.

“I grew up in Philly, and we always came down here when I was a boy.” Tom says that he most enjoys the time spent on Red Mill Pond. Last year, he was thankful that he was well enough for he and Maggie to host his mother’s 69th birthday party.
