Seaford resident Frances Turner was diagnosed with breast cancer on April 3, 2006. In a determined manner, she cites her “8 treatments of chemo-therapy, 33 radiation treatments, and 14 Herceptin treatments.”
“They really helped me at Tunnell,” she says. “During chemo I did not get sick. I made up my mind that I wouldn’t.”
Mrs. Turner comes from a family of men who have served in the military. Her husband, Richard, “who played a big part in her recovery,” served as a Radar & Bomb Navigation Systems Technician in the U.S. Air Force. She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Post 6 in Seaford and is a past state president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She now serves as state treasurer. She is also a past president of the VFW Auxiliary in Rehoboth Beach.
“I feel I am giving back to those who have given us our freedom,” states Mrs. Turner.
