Pedro Valerio, a Seaford resident who works in the construction industry, was surprised to learn that prostate cancer had been discovered during a routine annual physical. At age 44, he thought he was too young. "A lot of people tried to scare me about what would happen," he recalls, pointing out that he never was scared because the staff and physicians at Tunnell Cancer Center explained everything to him that he wanted to know.
Through all his treatment, including radiation, Pedro only missed three days of work. "My son's education is very important, and we want to make sure that money is there for him to go to university."
Pedro's son, who is studying electronics, supported his father through the ordeal, as did Pedro's wife, Veronica Anatalia Valerio. "I have a wonderful family, and my wife is so happy now that I am better."
