The Nursing Assistant Program at Beebe School of Nursing is for caring, competent individuals who would like to pursue a career in healthcare. Nursing Assistant Program graduates work in acute and long-term care settings and home care.
Skills learned include effective communication, promoting a safe, clean, healthy environment, and providing basic nursing care, vital sign measurement, hygiene, ambulation and proper positioning, nutrition, collection of specimens, and other duties as directed by the RN.
Graduates of this program will be prepared to take the Certified Nursing Assistant Examination, which is offered at the school at the completion of the course. The tuition fee includes the cost of the certification examination. Beebe Medical Center offers tuition reimbursement to graduates whom they hire, and a representative from Beebe talks with each class. Certification as a Nursing Assistant is one of the prerequisites for an individual to continue his or her education at Beebe School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse.
The Nursing Assistant Program is offered 34 times a year, in either day or evening classes. The classes are held at Beebe School of Nursing, with clinical opportunities at Beebe Medical Center.
The program cost includes all requirements for the course, background checks, book, and certification examination. The Nursing Assistant Program is approved by the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services Division of Long Term Care.
