Lewes, DE In celebration of the 2006 Make a Difference Day, Beebe School of Nursing will host a food drive. The focus is childhood hunger and America’s Second Harvest - The Nation’s Food Bank Network is coordinating the donations. Last year, 9 million of the 14 million children at risk for hunger in America were fed through this program.
Beebe School of Nursing is asking members of the public if they would like to take part in this food drive by donating items to the school no later than 1 p.m. on October 28. Child-friendly foods most needed include peanut butter and jelly, granola bars, cereal, canned meals, gelatin and pudding cups. Other items such as applesauce and canned or packaged fruits and no-added-sugar items also would be appreciated. No refrigerated or other perishable items can be accepted.
When bringing items to the Beebe School of Nursing, please make sure that nothing is outdated. Collection boxes will be located in the lobby. The School is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students also will be at the School on Saturday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to receive donations. Beebe School of Nursing representatives will deliver the donated items to the food bank. For more information, please call Ginny Rickards at 302-645-3251, ext. 5468.
