Breast Cancer Survivor
Johnese Spencer always has been a person who helps others. She is active in her church, Grace and Mercy Ministries of Greenwood, Delaware. A former dialysis nurse, she is the caregiver in her family.
But the unexpected happened: She was diagnosed with breast cancer. To treat her cancer, she needed to move from her home in Lincoln so should she would be closer to Tunnell Cancer Center.
“I needed to move and I needed help to do it,” she says. She met Bevann Kubala, RN, BSN, OCN, an oncology nurse at Tunnell Cancer Center, and discovered that Bevann also was someone who devoted herself to helping others.
Bevann was able to help Johnese obtain the funds she needed to establish herself in a new location, closer to Tunnell Cancer Center.
When she finished her treatments, Johnese returned to fundraising—and the devotion to helping others that she shares with Bevann.
