Diabetes Management

Diabetes Management

Since 1998, Beebe Medical Center has provided outpatient Diabetes Education for the community. Education is provided by certified diabetes educators (CDE's) and registered dietitians. Diabetes is a rapidly growing chronic disease that affects approximately 70,000 Delawareans. Two out of every thousand school children have diabetes. About 300 infants each year are born to mothers with diabetes during pregnancy. There are many individuals walking around who do not know they have diabetes. Unfortunately, by the time diabetes is diagnosed, there may already be complications.

These two-hour or four-hour educational programs are provided during the week and sometimes on Saturdays.

Follow-up education is scheduled three to six months after the first educational program series to make sure you are doing well and meeting your individual goals.
